A little later this summer, we will be deepening the bonds we share with two of our neighborhood churches – bonds that began in service projects a few months ago and now move into the realm of worship. On July 17 and July 24, the pastors of Maple Leaf Lutheran, Wedgwood Community, and Wedgwood Presbyterian Churches will be rotating pulpits and leading worship with each of our neighbors. We will be bringing hymns, scripture readings, and sermons that highlight our different traditions – lifting up some of the things that are dear to our specific traditions – Lutheran, Baptist, and Presbyterian.
After the rotation Sundays, the three congregations will all worship together on the WPC south lawn and celebrate our unity in Christ as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. The service on July 31st will be very similar to our usual Short Sunday Service – a service known for short duration, short pants (or other casual clothes), and shortcake with berries for fellowship time. Please note that the service on the 31st will be at 10:30 AM rather than our usual time.
Here is the worship schedule for the end of July:
On Sunday, July 17
Rev. Julie Blum of Maple Leaf Lutheran Church will lead worship at WPC, Rev. Wim Mauldin of Wedgwood Community Church will lead worship at MLLC, and I will lead worship at WCC.
On Sunday, July 24

Please mark your calendar and join us for a season of communal worship with our neighbor!
