This summer we have been deepening the bonds we share with two of our neighborhood churches – bonds that began in service projects a few months ago and now move into the realm of worship. On July 17 and July 24, the pastors of Maple Leaf Lutheran, Wedgwood Community, and Wedgwood Presbyterian Churches rotated pulpits and lead worship with each of our neighbors. We brought hymns, scripture readings, and serm…ons that highlighted our different traditions – lifting up some of the things that are dear to our specific traditions – Lutheran, Baptist, and Presbyterian.
This coming Sunday, July 31st at 10:30am the three congregations will all worship together on the Wedgwood Presbyterian Church south lawn and celebrate our unity in Christ as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. The service on July 31st will be very similar to our usual Short Sunday Service – a service known for short duration, short pants (or other casual clothes), and shortcake with berries for fellowship time. Please note that the service on the 31st will be at 10:30 AM rather than our usual time.
