Join the Mission Ministry Team in a three-week Adult Education course on racism in America. The course will occur on on January 29th, February 5th and 12th from 11:30-12:30, during the children’s Sunday School time. We will be using a guide created by the Presbyterian Mission Agency as well as supplementary material and will discuss ways in which racism prevails in our society and in our institutions. We will discover ways in which the Bible strongly encourages us to engage in antiracism work. We will also discuss ways in which the Bible has been falsely used to justify slavery and racism. We will talk about ways that race has influenced our lives and ways in which we can promote a community in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect. With the ever growing divide that is being created in our country right now and the hateful rhetoric used by many, race is an issue that must be discussed. It is imperative that we have honest and respectful conversations, and to not ignore the injustice present in our society. I understand that race can be an uncomfortable topic for some to discuss, so I encourage everyone to come and participate at a level in which they are comfortable with. It is my hope that these three weeks provide us with new knowledge and ways of thought, so that we can emerge from our discussions ready to tackle racism in our community.

Thank you, Claire W.
