Dear members and friends of Wedgwood Presbyterian Church,
Black Lives Matter of Seattle-King County is calling for a statewide day of action in support of all Black lives. They are including a silent march to honor lives lost and to send a message that we will no longer tolerate racism. The silent march will begin at 2:00 at Judkins Park and will proceed south to Jefferson Park. You can find more information here:https://blacklivesseattle.org/statewide-silent-march-and-general-strike-on-friday-june-12th/
People who cannot attend the march are encouraged to participate in a march in their own community, so the session (the board of elders for those unfamiliar with Presbyterian governance) and I invite you to join us on Friday, June 12, from 2:00-3:30 PM to show the support of our church and neighborhood. We will march in silence as a sign of grief over lost lives. Our march will be a short, circular route along and through the church’s property and will be planned in such a way that we can maintain a safe 6 foot distance from each other.
We invite you to bring a sign to carry as you march. In order for the message to be clear and consistent, we offer the following suggestions for your signs:
