Contrary to the Andy Williams song lyrics, this may not feel like “the most wonderful time of the year” for everyone. For those grieving a loss – of a loved one, of physical or mental health, of more carefree times, of the way things used to be – the joy of the season can at times seem out of reach. And for those with loneliness, depression, and anxiety, the busyness of the season seems to magnify their feelings. It can be hard to find times and places to express these feelings of loss and longing – to shed our tears and to speak words of longing for God who feels so far away.
We will be offering a simple service of prayers, music, and candle lighting on Sunday, December 21, at 5:00 pm. It will be a time when we are invited to express our feelings of lament and longing, to sing and pray, and to bring a little light into the darkness as we await the coming of the Light of the world. All are welcome.
