Worship Service

Our worship service typically follows the traditional Presbyterian Book of Common Worship, with praise, scripture, a sermon by our pastor, prayer and a sending out.  Music is an important part of our worship, with several congregational hymns, responses, and special music from our choir, music director or guest artists.  Communion is held 2x per month, and weekly during the seasons of Advent, Christmas, and Easter – all are welcome to participate.  We celebrate with gluten-free bread and grape juice.

Music Program

Our choir sings almost every Sunday from September to June as well as providing special music for Christmas Eve candlelight service, Maundy Thursday, Easter, and the North Helpline Benefit Concert.  The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings and sings a wide variety of traditional and contemporary choral works. The only criterion to join the choir is a desire to share in the music of the church. New members are always welcome! We are blessed with a number of talented church members, both youth and adults, who play or sing for special services and to enhance our worship experience. Our young people also participate in the music ministry of the church by leading songs at Vacation Bible School and some of the summer services.

Children’s Worship Center

Shortly into the worship service, the pastor invites children to join her on the steps for the children’s message.  After that, children ages 3-7 are invited to attend the Children’s Worship Center (September through May) or to rejoin the adults in the sanctuary for the remainder of the service.  In the Worship Center, children experience the wonder and mystery of God through a unique and joyful storytelling format using multi-sensory materials using Young Children and Worship curriculum.  The Children’s Worship Center has been continually running since 1991 using the beautiful wooden figures made by members of the congregation.

Childcare for Infants through Three Years

Childcare is provided in the northeast corner room behind the sanctuary.  As you pass the sanctuary on your left, go to the end of the hall and turn right to get to the childcare room.  Please, introduce yourself and your child to our longtime childcare provider, Katherine Root.  If you prefer, your young children are welcome to remain with you in the sanctuary.  Please feel free to have your child in the area wherever you and they feel most comfortable.  Childcare is also provided for children during the education time after worship.
