Are you looking for an active way to support your community and make a difference in the lives of local people in need? Whether you’re a member of Wedgwood Presbyterian or simply a friend or neighbor interested in helping your community, consider this your open invitation to join us!
How It Works:
- Two weeks before a scheduled packing party, the church gathers a special offering during worship. Typically, we purchase between 1,000 and 1,400 pounds of bulk food using funds donated by members, friends, and other supporters.
- Volunteers team up to repack bulk foods into family-sized portions of pantry staples, including dried beans, rice, lentils, coffee, teff flour, and other items requested by North Helpline.
- The finished goods are delivered to North Helpline’s food bank, where they are available to local residents in need.
Why Volunteer?
- It’s a fun, meaningful way to serve alongside friends, family, and fellow community members.
- All ages are welcome—bring your energy and helping hands!
- Your participation helps ensure North Helpline can provide food to families and individuals experiencing food insecurity.
Event Details:
- Packing parties are held after worship several times a year. Watch for announcements and invitations in church or on our website.
- Special offerings help fund the bulk food purchases—your generosity makes a difference!
