March 6, 2020

Dear members and friends of Wedgwood Presbyterian Church.

Seattle Presbytery has advised churches to cancel regular worship until further notice. This brings us in line with the latest recommendations from Public Health – Seattle & King County. For more information, please see: https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/health.aspx

The session recognizes that this is an evolving situation. We have chosen to cancel worship for this Sunday, March 8, 2020 and will make decisions about future services on a week by week basis.

Please hold in prayer all who are impacted by this health crisis – those who are ill, those who care for them, and those who grieve.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Karen

A prayer for those in need of healing:
By your power, great God,
our Lord Jesus healed the sick
and gave new hope to the hopeless.
Though we cannot command or possess your power,
we pray for those who want to be healed.
Soothe fevered brows,
ease troubled breathing,
and make the broken whole again.
Help us to welcome every healing as a sign that,
though death is against us,
you are for us,
and have promised renewed and risen life
in Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.

A prayer for those who work for healing:
God of compassion,
who in Jesus Christ healed the sick,
bless all who continue your work of healing.
Enhance their skills, and deepen their understanding,
that through their ministry
those who suffer may be restored to fullness of health,
for the sake of Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer at a time of tragedy:
God of compassion,
you watch our ways,
and weave out of terrible happenings
wonders of goodness and grace.
Surround those who have been shaken by tragedy
with a sense of your present love,
and hold them in faith.
Though they are lost in grief,
may they find you and be comforted;
through Jesus Christ who was dead, but lives
and rules this world with you. Amen.
