Giving Gathering: Alternative Gifts to Charitable Organizations
At the Mission Team meeting Nov 9th we were discussing Fair Trade and how to make it available for the holidays and came up with the idea of a Popup Shop!
We hope you can join us Saturday, December 5th, 12pm – 2pm on the church patio for a fun gathering, do some holiday shopping and support some of our community non-profits that provide food, shelter and services to those in need.
We will have 3 – 5 separate tables with Fair Trade items, informational brochures and gift certificates for Treehouse, North Helpline, and Teen Feed. The idea is you can make a donation to any of these organizations in honor of someone, as an alternative gift for this season of giving, and we will give you a certificate card you can give to that person to let them know about the donation. As an added bonus to seeing friends and taking care of gifts and the less fortunate, we will be accepting donations for the WPC Food Pantry so we can provide for others in our own neighborhood who can use help with food and personal items. (See other Messenger articles about helpful items to provide.) We hope we get to see some of you in a few weeks.
Weather and Safety Note: This event could be postponed to Sunday noon – 2pm if the weather looks better, and/or it might be cancelled if the virus situation gets worse. Please wear your mask and we will be vigilant keeping a safe distance from each other. We anticipate no one being there for too long a time, so there shouldn’t be any long-term exposure situations.
Hoping we get to see some of you in person in a few weeks,
The Mission Team
