Wedgwood Presbyterian Church has a longstanding tradition of designating one summer Sunday for a short outdoor service. On “Short Sunday,” we celebrate the (hopefully) nice weather with a short worship service on the lawn across from the church, featuring berry shortcake for Fellowship afterwards. This year, Short Sunday will be on July 13 at our usual 10 AM worship time. Feel free to wear shorts! Check out the adjoining article for an opportunity to bring a short story to the service that day. See you on July 13! Thanks!

Tell us about a time when you were short-changed, took a short cut, drew the short straw, came up short, or short circuited the whole event. You get the idea! Write your (short) anecdote and give it to Pastor Karen or type it into the chat if you’re joining via Zoom on Sunday morning, July 13th. Pastor Karen will read as many as time allows, with or without names attached. We can’t wait to hear your stories! Below is an example.

It was a beautiful summer Saturday and my neighbor and I were having a garage sale. This lovely young woman came up to me with a huge smile. I thought she looked familiar. It was a former middle school student, now in her twenties, named Jana. Jana had been a MOST difficult student…but that day she could not say enough wonderful things about me as a teacher. I knew it was over the top flattery but I couldn’t help looking over my shoulder to see if my two currently not-high-on-mom teenage daughters were taking this in. Sweet! They were listening intently.

Jana’s partner was very busy moving things around in their station wagon. Big hugs, well-wishes and waves out the window as they drove away with my mother’s dishes and my late husband’s tools. It was only then that I realized they hadn’t paid.

But was I short-changed? Maybe not.
